About Creative Loafing:

Creative Loafing Atlanta is the city’s authoritative lifestyle weekly. At the time of my employment, it was part of a chain of alternative weekly newspapers under the same name in Charlotte, Sarasota, and Tampa, as well as the Chicago Reader and the Washington City Paper.

 

 

Co-Founder / publisher Umpbump.com

2006-current

Co-Founded an established baseball blog, featuring commentary and opinion from a handful of fans.

The site has generated attention in some media circles, being mentioned and linked to by The New York Times and nytimes.com, about.com, Sports Illustrated online, Startribune.com and other popular sports sites such as deadspin.com.

Designed and developed the site’s design and template using the WordPress CMS. Adapted open source plugins.

Currently, UmpBump.com has been visited over 1.8 million times since its launch in the spring of 2006, and it generates around 32,000 pageviews a month.

 

 

Editor in chief, Revista Elite Magazine, Atlanta, GA

2002-2009

Directed the editorial focus of a Spanish-language community magazine.

Directed, designed, developed and implemented the graphical layout designs of the print edition and published and developed the online edition of the magazine (www.revistaelite.com) using both Joomla! and WordPress.

Managed the editorial and design teams. Executed editorial layout of the magazine using QuarkExpress and InDesign.

Designed the cover of the magazine for every issue.

Wrote features on a monthly basis.

Wrote a series of columns on my decision to become an American citizen (in Spanish):

MLBTR has quickly become one of the most popular independent baseball websites out there, being featured in the Chicago Sun Times, USA Today and publicly lauded by baseball legend Peter Gammons.

MLBTradeRumors recieved close to a million visits last July 31st, 2008, during Major League Baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline.
